We are looking for a PhD student to develop a project in the field of kidney physiology and metabolism, applied to prevention of chronic kidney disease.
This project will involve a large array of experimental and computational methods to investigate the relationship between intracellular pH and kidney cell metabolism, with the goal of developing a new tool for the identification of tissue acidification caused by kidney disease.
The student responsible for this project will also have the opportunity to visit partner laboratories in Europe to perform experiments using cutting-edge methods, including metabolomics and two-photon microscopy.
The Rotterdam Kidney Lab brings together a diverse research team, creating a vibrant and collaborative research environment. Our broad research scope spans epidemiology, physiology, and both in vivo and ex vivo studies, with a strong focus on innovative kidney research through cutting-edge techniques.
Led by both clinicians and scientists, including your primary supervisor Pedro H. Imenez Silva, the lab offers a unique mentorship experience that goes beyond the traditional one-on-one model. Pedro will guide you through your PhD research while also supporting your career development beyond the PhD.
