Job description
The project will be fully executed at the department of Immunology in close collaboration with the Hematology department, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The PhD student will be appointed at the Immunology department. The PhD student will be responsible for the execution and coordination of experiments including single cell RNA sequencing and flow cytometryy, transcriptomics data analysis, in vitro cell culture assays and pre-clinical investigation of AML treatment with immune cell therapies. The PhD student will collect data and perform data analyses in collaboration with our available bioinformatics team. The PhD student interacts with technicians, post-docs and clinicians. He/she will present data at weekly group meetings, departemental meetings and conferences and describe the research results in scientific publications.

The department of Immunology performs cutting edge basic and translational research, participates in patient care by performing laboratory diagnostics (Laboratory for Medical Immunology) and supporting clinical immunology, and performs a wide range of educational activities. Major research focuses in the department span molecular to clinical immunology and includes the development and function of innate and adaptive immunity, autoimmunity, immune deficiencies, immunity to infection, neuroimmunology, and lymphoid malignancies. The department has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that support basic and translational research. The department is involved in multiple international consortia and networks, which facilitate innovation and rapid implementation of new immunological concepts and technologies.
Qualifications and skills
Candidates with a strong background and hands-on experience in immunology, leukemia, single cell analysis, cell biology, cell culture and bioinformatics will be considered. He/she will directly supervise technicians and participate in the experimental design and execution of studies, interpretation and presentation of the data and preparation of manuscripts. Candidates are expected to collaborate closely with a post-doc and technicians on the project, scientists and clinicians at the Erasmus MC, be highly motivated and have a team spirit.

Terms of employment
- You will receive a temporary position for 4 years. The gross monthly salary is € 3.017,- in the first year and increases to € 3.824,- in the 4th year (scale OIO).
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and an individual travel expense package.
- Pension insurance with ABP, we take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
- Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. There is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
- An international office which aids you in preparing for your arrival and stay.
