Job description

The position is for a tenure track Immunologist position in the department of Immunology that will become an independent work group leader. Appointment will be at the senior postdoctoral or assistant professor level and will be commensurate with experience and track record. More senior candidates are also encouraged to apply.

The candidate is expected to have a scientific focus and develop a vibrant research program in the field of primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs)/inborn errors of immunity (IEIs). As part of their research activities the candidate will also contribute to the development of diagnostic tests for PID/IEI.

As part of building a sustainable research program, the candidate is expected to apply for external funding and submit grant applications.

The candidate will manage scientifically their own independent research group but also function in close connection with the Laboratory of Medical Immunology's (LMI's) research and innovation laboratory, where LMI work group leaders conduct research and develop novel diagnostic tests. The new recruit is expected to manage within the laboratory PhD students (possibly in combination with other LMI members or Clinical Immunologists) and technicians on their day-to-day activities.

The candidate will work closely with medical immunologists and clinical immunologists to provide diagnostic support for the diagnosis of difficult patient cases. For this, often custom-made tests need to be developed.

The candidate will have teaching responsibilities and is expected to teach in the Erasmus MC Medical Bachelors and/or Masters programs. The candidate may participate in departmental committees and initiatives that needed to support the compliance and functioning of the department of Immunology and Erasmus MC more general. The candidate is expected to be an active member of the department of Immunology and participate in all academic and social activities of the department.
