Job description
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position in medical image analysis. In this role, you will:
- Develop AI models using laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) to predict kidney outcomes.
- Create AI models for analyzing histopathological whole slide images (WSI) of kidney biopsies to improve predictions of kidney outcomes.
- Design and conduct ablation studies using current state-of-the-art models, such as Vision Transformers and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). And find the common features the models are looking into using explainable AI.
- Integrate multimodal imaging techniques by combining H&E WSIs with LSCI to enhance prediction accuracy.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of pathologists, clinicians, and researchers.
Work environment
You will join the department of Pathology and Clinical Bioinformatics and be a key member of the PHANTOM group, led by dr. Andrew Stubbs, dr. Farhan Akram, and dr. Yunlei Li. Your main focus will be on AI-based projects related to kidney perfusion and computational pathology, under the guidance of dr. Farhan Akram, who leads the PatHology Artificial iNtelligence plaTfOrM (PHANTOM) project. This multidisciplinary initiative aims to develop cutting-edge deep learning methodologies for diagnostic pathology, translational research, and personalized medicine.
Our department is well-regarded for its innovative use of deep learning in disease diagnostics and prognostic research.
You will also collaborate with other experts, including dr. Marian Clahsen, the Principal Investigator of this project from the department of Pathology, and dr. Robert Minnee from the department of Surgery. Our team has access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including a GPU cluster and data servers, which will support your research and development efforts.
